Questions surrounding the Taylor Farms Cyclospora recall continue to surface, and the clearest answers still come from Taylor Farms itself. The company keeps its Cyclospora Information Hub updated as additional details emerge, while its Recall Page reflects any product recalls that remain active.
Instead of revisiting the headlines alone, the timeline published by Taylor Farms shows how the situation developed over several days.
July 15, 2026 : Taylor Farms first received traceback and epidemiological information from the FDA and CDC indicating that certain lots of iceberg lettuce from central Mexico could be associated with a Cyclospora cluster found across five states. According to the Cyclospora Information Hub, Taylor Farms spoke that day with officials from the FDA, CDC, and Michigan health authorities and raised scientific concerns about the methodology and data being relied upon.
July 16, 2026 : Discussions about those concerns continued with government representatives, including personnel from the FDA, HHS, and the White House. Later that day, Taylor Farms chose to voluntarily recall all iceberg lettuce sourced and processed at its central Mexico facility, going beyond only the specific lots identified by the FDA. The company described the broader action as being taken "out of an abundance of caution." Customers began receiving recall notifications the same day.
July 17, 2026 : Taylor Farms announced the voluntary recall publicly and launched an internal investigation. This date is the one most often referenced as the beginning of the Taylor Farms Cyclospora recall.
July 18, 2026 : The FDA told Taylor Farms that an initial test on a lettuce sample from central Mexico had produced a "confirmed positive" result. The Hub states that the product in question had already been held for testing and never entered distribution, while other lettuce from that same lot was already included in the recall. As an added precaution, Taylor Farms also halted all production at its central Mexico facility that day.
July 19, 2026 : Taylor Farms brought in independent third-party specialists to conduct a complete review of food safety procedures at the central Mexico operation. On the same day, the FDA notified the company that the positive result reported the previous day had actually been a false positive.
More recent testing information has since been added to the Cyclospora Information Hub. As of August 27, 2026, the FDA reported no confirmed positive product test results for Cyclospora. Taylor Farms also states that approximately 2,000 samples it collected in central Mexico beginning in May produced no positive results.
For the rest of the growing season, Taylor Farms has stopped sourcing iceberg lettuce from central Mexico. Its leafy greens are currently being supplied from the United States and Canada.
The company says it spends more than $200 million each year on food safety measures that undergo independent auditing and verification. Taylor Farms also states that any decision to begin sourcing from central Mexico again will depend on the results of the continuing third-party review and the FDA investigation.
For consumers trying to determine whether a product was included, the recall is limited to iceberg lettuce from the central Mexico facility and was distributed mainly through foodservice channels. According to the Hub, only a small number of Marketside-brand retail products sold at Walmart were affected, and all have already been taken off store shelves. Products that did not carry a "Product of Mexico" label were not included in the recall.
Taylor Farms also notes on the Hub that it has been connected to another, unrelated recall involving jalapeƱos supplied by the third-party company Coast Citrus Distributors. That recall has no connection to the Cyclospora matter.
The newest information about that issue, along with details on any other recalls that are currently active, is maintained on the Taylor Farms Recall Page.
Since the situation is still active and may continue to change, Taylor Farms' own resources remain the place for the latest information:
Taylor Farms advises anyone who believes they have a recalled product to throw it away and states that refunds can be obtained from the place where the item was purchased. People who develop symptoms of illness are encouraged to contact their physician.
Additional contact information and further instructions are available through the Cyclospora Information Hub.
